Bush taps Nason to fill financial-institutions post at Treasury

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- President Bush intends to promote Treasury official David Nason to head the department's division on financial institutions, the White House announced Thursday.

Bush will nominate Nason, who currently serves as deputy assistant secretary for financial institutions policy, to replace Emil W. Henry as assistant secretary for financial institutions, the White House said. Henry delivered his resignation letter Thursday, saying he wanted to "reengage" with his family, which has remained in New York, and return to private life.

Before joining the Treasury, Nason worked as a counsel to a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
