Phila. Newspapers Snags MediaNews Exec

source:  admin  2007-3-9 21:17:40
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The owner of Philadelphia's two largest daily newspapers said Thursday that it has appointed a new president for its online operations.

Philadelphia Media Holdings, the publisher of The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News, hired Eric Grilly from MediaNews Group Inc. in Denver. Grilly, 36, headed interactive media for MediaNews, one of the nation's largest newspaper companies.

"This is a big hire," said Brian Tierney, publisher of the Inquirer and Daily News. "In the online world, there's hardly anybody we can hire that's more well-known or well-respected."

Before joining the MediaNews corporate office, Grilly was vice president of interactive media at one of the company's newspapers, the Denver Post.

At the two Philadelphia papers, Grilly will be responsible for all digital operations.
